3 Oil-Painters You Haven't Heard of Yet
65With artists like Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, and Dali still posthumously flooding the market with prints and reproductions of famous works such as 'Bassin Aux Nymphaes' and 'Starry Night', it can be hard for today's artist to receive the recognition they deserve. The following three artists are alive, well, and producing beautiful works on par with anything else on the market.
Jia Lu, China
Jia Lu was born in 1954 in Beijing and studied at the Central Academy of Arts and Design, the Toronto School of Art, and York University. She has worked in Japan, China, across Europe and in the US. In 1995 she began to paint realistic figurative work in oil on canvas, but in the past she has also produced works in mediums that include Chinese ink paintings, watercolors, and sculpture. Her work is critically acclaimed and well-known in international art circles, though not yet as popular as it deserves to be.
Iris Scott, United States
Iris Scott was born in the United States and studied at Washington State University. She has worked primarily in the US. In 2009 she began painting with oil on canvas using her fingers, but has previously created works in the traditional brush mode. She has received very little official recognition of any kind for her detailed and beautiful work.
Leonid Afremov, Belarus
Leonid Afremov was born in 1955 in Vitebsk and studied at Vitebsk Education Institute. He has worked in Russia, Israel, the US and Mexico. In the late 1990's he began to work with oils and a palette knife, but he has also produced work in watercolors and acrylic. Although Afremov has recently been successful in marketing and selling his art, it has not yet received much critical or popular acclaim.
