2011: The Best, The Worst, and the Things You Wish You Could Forget (TV Edition)

Best TV Show of 2011

Of all the TV Shows I've watched and the hundreds I haven't, Game of Thrones is remarkable for the following reasons: (1)it's based on a popular book series, which is always nice because books usually have to have an actual plot to get by, (2)it has magic and dragons and other mythical beasts in it and somehow manages to not come off as lame, and (3)even with all the non-realistic aspects it is a political drama. You don't believe me, I know, but I swear that's what the show is about. Medieval magic/dragons/non-lame/political drama.

Worst TV Show of 2011

New Girl takes this one, not because it's particularly loathsome or inappropriate or a total waste of money, but because it exemplifies the real problem the TV industry has right now: so. Dang. COOKIE-CUTTER. The show took an actress who's mildly popular, took a plot that could have potential if it tried really, really hard, then filmed it. Then stuck it in the microwave, brought it back out while only lukewarm, and filmed it again. And again. And again. And for those of you who haven't seen it, that's the whole first season.

TV Show I Wish I Could Forget

Two-And-A-Half Men wasn't that great from the start, but I watched it. I didn't even know why, really, except that it was kind of funny sometimes and... okay, I have no good excuse. But Two-And-A-Half Men minus Charlie Sheen is like Earth minus air. Sure, it might work out for something, but the other 99.99% of us get screwed over. And Two-And-A-Half Men plus Ashton Kutcher plus horrible man-bob haircut? That is a thing that should not be.

I agree with all your picks. I can't wait for the next season of Game of Thrones. Season 1 ended on such a high. I have watched the occasional New Girl, but I think your pretty much right about the plot.

Maybe I just don't see the charm everyone else seems to be drowning in from Zoey Deschanel. She's just kind of... boring.

I do not watch that much TV anymore, but I used to watch Twi and Half Men sometimes. It could be funny once awhile, but I never understood why they kept making the show after they threw off Charlie Sheen. The whole thing just seemed like a ratings game to me, because they knew people who turn in since Charlie kept complaining about being unceremoniously dumped off the show. Oh, and I think Charle's behavior is just wacko bananas, and not sure why people were following little thing he said on Twitter. I wonder if people realize it is a publicity stunt for himself.

Yeah, Charlie Sheen's Twitter account matters slightly less to me than, say, how many grains of sand there are on the beaches of Cabo San Lucas. Totally irrelevant information.

People thought I was sort of a wet blanket for not following him back during the Tiger Blood thing. It was so of weird, like how could anyone follow that gibberish anyway.
